A concrete bunker at PRESQU’ILE WINERY in the Santa Maria Valley merging built and natural environments holds conceptual artist Cole Sternberg’s new installation, along the high embankments. The show—a series of paintings by the Santa Ynez–based creative, whose ractice is centered around environmental forces and the effect of time—launches as part of a multiyear collaboration between Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND) and the Central Coast winery. The landscape itself is part of Sternberg’s palette: He buries canvases in soils and exposes them to the elements, highlighting nature’s power and the ephemerality of the work. 5391 Presquile Dr., Santa Maria, nomadicdivision.org
