What DÔEN is a collective of creative women and fashion industry vets. Partners Hilary Tisch, Allie Furlotti, Hilary Walsh, and Courtney Santry (all S.B. gals too) came together to offer bohemian breezy silhouettes in luxe natural fabrics at approachable prices.

Mission The Kleveland sisters—Katherine was vice president of design at Joie and Margaret was in brand and design at B&B shoes—see the collective as a celebration of motherhood, sisterhood, and feminity. “Both of us come from similar experiences, where the women were really running the business, but never in a position of ownership,” Margaret says. “From day one we thought, Let’s empower these women we’ve worked with and know, who haven’t had the opportunity to own the businesses they’ve been a part of,” adds Katherine. Also, all of their production factories in India and Peru are owned or co-owned by women and are ethically run.

THE LOOK Our line is inspired by nature and our nostalgia for California style of past decades. Our muse is a strong and nonchalant woman—she always looks put together, a touch eccentric, and never tries too hard.

ONCE A DON ALWAYS A DON Santa Barbara is one of the main sources of inspiration for our line. Growing up here (both attended Santa Barbara High School), we were surrounded by both coastal beauty and the green nature of the foothills, and our collection reflects what we love to wear for beach weekends, farmers market picnics, or a trip to our family ranch near Jalama. The style and culture of Santa Barbara has always influenced our aesthetic as well. There is an understated, more East Coast elegance that you don’t find in every beach town. Living in Los Angeles for most of our adult lives, we are very drawn toward wearable collections that are less seasonal and more transitional.

BOHEMIAN SUMMER STAPLES Katherine has been living in the Biarritz jumpsuit with the Santal slide sandal at the Coral Casino having lunch around the kid’s pool. Margaret rocks the sailor jean at playdates; Le Labo neroli perfume, Dôen market carry-all baskets, and a one-piece Henley swimsuit from Eres at the beach.

FALL & BEYOND We took a trip to Peru and fell in love. We are very excited about our Fall handknit sweaters and shoes made there. Layering, patching, and piecing things together to create a bohemian, feminine, moody, tapestry. Things are still nonchalant and casual, just a new texture and feel.
