Down to Earth

sbearthday-2016-verticalHelp save (and celebrate!) our planet at the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival, held April 16 and 17 at Alameda Park. Santa Barbara’s Community Environmental Council (CEC) is hosting the annual celebration, now in its 46th year. The 2016 festival theme—One World—emphasizes the importance of working together as individuals, communities, and nations to keep global warming well below two degrees.

Browse among festival’s eight zones—whether it’s parking a bike at the free valet, perusing the EcoVillage for green products and organic clothing, exploring local food systems at Homegrown Roots, or simply sipping on an organic smoothie from the Food Court, the event helps highlight the importance of taking a step toward a brighter, more eco-friendly future. Or learn from the experts by listening to Congresswoman Lois Capps and 5 Gyres cofounder Marcus Eriksen, both recipients of the 2016 Environmental Hero Award. Admission is free.
