Tonight, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival honors one of the greats, Jennifer Aniston, with the prestigious Montecito Award for her lifetime of standout performances as well as her newest role in the indie film Cake at this year’s 30th annual celebration.

The Montecito Award was created to honor actors who have given exceptional performances throughout their career and have made a major impact on film. Other notable artists to receive the award in the past include Oprah Winfrey, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Kate Winslet.

Aniston’s latest role is both moving and heart wrenching. In Cake, she plays Claire Bennett, a mother in pain over the loss of her child and who struggles daily as she drives away the ones who love her. It’s no surprise that Aniston has garnered award season buzz for the role—she has already received SAG and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.

Jennifer Aniston is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress best known for her role on the classic television comedy Friends. Since the end of the show in 2004, she broke out onto the silver screen with appearances in films like Then There was You, The Good Girl, and The Break Up. –Taylor Johnson
