Professional surfer, Santa Barbara local, and our Summer 2012 cover girl Lakey Peterson has been named One to Watch in our Best Of 2013 issue. Look for her in the issue’s Sports section as soon as the magazine hits stands this month!
Want to learn more about this local wave riding maven? Be sure to check out the premiere of Zero to 100, a biographical film that takes Peterson’s surf journey to the big screen. The Aaron Lieber film chronicles her rookie year on the ASP World Tour, and the philanthropic work she’s done along the way— with the youth-driven, grassroots campaign H4O (Hands4Others). Aptly titled Zero to 100, this film beautifully captures Peterson’s lightning-fast success and what it means for the female surf industry. The personal look inside her early childhood and the philanthropic values she holds today adds depth to the meaning of all those championship titles.
The inspiring film makes its world premiere this Sunday, February 10 at the Lobero Theatre at 7 pm, and will be accompanied by live music from the film’s soundtrack. Tickets start at $20 and are available at lobero.com; proceeds from the event go to some of the pro’s favorite non-profits.
