monsters and muses

A piece by Rachel Simone Wilkins.

Artist Rachel Simone Wilkins debuts her original fine art in Monsters & Muses, a collection that Wilkins describes as, “an artistic deconstruction of images, colors and shapes, slicing them open and merging places of darkness with bliss, ecstasy with the beauty of stillness, organic wings with geometric claws.” Cafe Zoma 918 State St., Santa Barbara, 805-965-5593.

Stop by the Santa Barbara Museum of Art to view current exhibitions Ori Gersht and Distilled Moments, as well as artwork by the museum’s teaching assistants—who range from 14 to 18-years-old and assist teaching artists during ArtVenture Camps. The teens’ art will be on display in the Museum Store window, and refreshments will be served in the Museum Cafe from 5:30 until 7:30 pm. Santa Barbara Museum of Art 1130 State St., Santa Barbara, 805-963-4364.

Those are our top picks for the evening. Where will you stop this First Thursday?
