Created in 1994 by Thomas Rollerson right here in Santa Barbara, the Dream Foundation has since touched the lives of thousands of adults suffering life-threatening illnesses. In the latest Dream Foundation newsletter, a particular story touched us so much that we thought we would share it with you…

After being diagnosed with leukemia, Noelle underwent two unsuccessful bone marrow transplants, before being told by her doctor that she might die. So she wrote to the Dream Foundation expressing her love for Lady GaGa’s music and her dream of seeing Gaga live—Noelle’s wish was granted.

Not only did Noelle get to attend a concert, but she was whisked away after into a private room where she got the opportunity to meet Lady Gaga. Rollerson, who has witnessed numerous occasions such as this, was taken aback by the sincerity of GaGa. “They may say you are sick, but all I feel is how alive your spirit is,” Lady Gaga told Noelle. “Listen to yourself and believe in your will.”

At the end of the encounter the singer awarded Noelle with a pair of studded, black heels. Gaga signed the bottom of the shoes and exclaimed, “These are your Chemo shoes! Next time you have to go to Chemo, walk in there wearing these and remember your are a superstar. No illness can take your inner-beauty or your spirit of life away. You are beautiful!”

An incredible story, made possible by an incredible organization. We are proud to have the Dream Foundation here on our shores. –Sean Knotts
